The first ring of my new Signature Line

Well after almost a month of work, here is the first of my new Signature Line. Custom designed for Bronze Lily, these are heirloom pieces. The next ring that is coming up I am really excited to post. I designed every aspect of it and each ring will be signed and stamped with the Bronze Lily name. It will be soo cool and the cornerstone of my collection. Its not ready yet but will be available in the next few weeks.

I've added some new rings to my collection, they'll be available on amazon.com in a few days. I hand set these particular rings myself! I am really proud of myself, although I still plan to find a local jeweler. It feels good to know I can do it, but its really hard so I still prefer to have a professional do it.

Here is a sneek peek at the first of my fine jewelry collection in 14k white and yellow gold. I hope this does well so I can then launch a couture jewelry collection in 18k and diamonds! But first things first.

My largest stones, up to 30-35 carats will be part of the 14k collection. I'll show those in the next weeks as I finish and photograph them.

I've been on the down low about a new company I was forming because frankly I didn't know if it was even possible for me to do it. After 12 hours in front of a computer, I have my prototype!! i got the idea a year ago but was so busy with Bronze Lily that I couldn't devote a lot of time to it.

Today I installed a copy of wordpress onto my server which was an experience because it required setting up a sql server which I have never done in my life. but I got it right the first time, hope I can do it again because I will have to 10 more times.

So what is the company all about? I told aimercat a little bit about it on valentines day, but we were pretty toasted so I'm not sure how much actually made sense. Its an online magazine, in a sense. Its a local blog made up entirely by the people that live in that city. Everyone has their own personal blog, but this is a public, online, lifestyle publication.

An editor will choose what to publish otherwise we would have spam and porn all over it. People can submit photos, articles, announcements and things in any number of categories and the editor will publish a nice well rounded selection of daily submissions. And the site is brought to you by who else?......Bronze Lily Beauty. I'm going to sell advertising and if another company wants to sponsor the site then they can bump me.

I am going to customize the header with a picture of the city and I still have to figure out how to stream the ads, but i'm getting close to putting out a call for submissions.

I'm only starting with LA, but then the cities are:

New Server
I have been transitioning all my files to a new server tonight.The old server company can not handle this account. The straw broke tonight and I have redirected my dns servers. In 24-72 hours I will have a new server but in the meantime some things may not work as planned and the website may be down. Email will also be sporadic and may bounce but everything should be operational by the end of the week.

I am going to do absolutely nothing for the next 2 days. Then, I'm going to rent a car. A mercedes C230. Hopefully Hertz will still have it available. I'm tired of driving my miata i want to try a luxury car for a week. Then I'm going to start planning my marketing strategies.

14k gold collection
I've been collecting some huge gemstones over the last few years that are even better than the ones I sell now. Really special, HUGE gemstones that belong in a gold setting. I have a lot of stones that are waiting for their moment in the spotlight.

Photoshoots with models
I dont have the budget for this so I'm going to have to probably put this one last. I'll probably start with myself as the model. I just need to get in fighting form.

How to use the mineral blush, how to accessorize with necklaces, rings, etc. Different makeup looks, and other stuff like that. Create different outfits. Here, my directing skills would be tested so I will use models for this too. And each video will reflect my own personal sense of design and irony. Branded in a very specific way like my website.

Today I went shopping for shoes because I have none. I spent $300 on 4 pairs. I feel a little guilty that I spent so much, but I honestly had nothing. Nada. Stuff is expensive. How do people afford to go shopping all the time? I put these on my credit card. Not a good idea but my alternative is bare feet so I see this as a necessity.

I'm so tired from trying to put everything in storage and still trying to get work done. I'm supposed to have a wholesale catalog done by the end of the month. It rained like a mofo today. Unrelenting, cold, wet rain with huge rain drops and it got dark around 3:30. Can you see why I can't wait to leave?

Anyway here are a couple more of my layered necklaces. I am going to do an email and a marketing blitz arround these chain necklaces. I have more combos I havent posted. Its hard to photograph when it rains in the middle of a product shoot. I have a tiger eye one to post too.

Homeless?
Some funny things are happening in my little world right now. The owner of the condo that I rent has someone moving in so I need to move out by Feb. Since I'm unemcumbered right now with a day job I plan to live in LA for the month of February. If I like it I might stay. Maybe. I'll be living at the Custom Hotel if anyone wants to swing on by.

ETrade
I used to have a brokerage account years ago when I worked for an investment company but I liquidated the account to start my company. Now that that I truly am self employed, I need to create some investments so I opened an E-Trade account to buy and sell stocks. Its really confusing I never did it by myself before. But I think it will be better once i figure it all out.

I have a new jewelry collection coming out. Its a perennial like my cocktail rings. This is my chain necklace collection. I designed them to be layered. I was going to do a gold cocktail ring set but I havent gotten around to it yet. Here is a sneek peak:

My jeweler has kicked my ass into high gear. He basically told me to get my sh*t together and its going to happen now. Today I brought 20 sketches into the office and he was waiting with a sculptor friend that he's known for 20 years.

We selelcted three initial styles that we will design, then modify with different stones, colors and shapes. We will actually begin with one and the next two in the next month or so. The pressure!

The first ring we are creating is based on my wire wrapped aquamarine ring. We are creating an organic shape that reflects nature. The sculptor is doing this all by hand. I'm so elated to have my very first, signature, exclusive piece!!! Its really exciting. It will be available in silver, white gold and yellow gold.

Burt's Bees Sells for $925 Million

Yes that's right. Clorox is going to buy the Burt's Bees brand for a cool $925 million dollars. If you've ever seen Elizabethtown, thats almost $1 Billion dollars. That is a ton of dough, people!!

Its great and exciting to see, as some of you may recall I named Burt's Bees as one of the main competitors of Bronze Lily. I mean, I am no threat to them at all, but its nice to see some huge payout and the possibilities for a company like that. A woman founded the company and she retains 20% ownership. Insane!!

Couture Collection coming!...(maybe)

My jeweler and I have been working together for 2 years and have known each other for 4. We've decided that while the silver cocktail rings are glamorous and affordable for everyone, we would like to come up with a couture collection to really challenge our skills.

He has all the tools and the ability to produce anything in his shop, but lacks the design skills and the marketing/distribution. I have the design skills and the marketing, but lack the ability to produce the custom settings. Also the cost of gold, labor and gemstones is too much for me to afford.

Sooo we are thinking of collaborating and creating a couture jewel collection. The same signature fat stones, but with gold, platinum and diamonds too. We will work together to design the rings, then he'll create the settings and provide the gold and diamonds. i'll provide the gemstones and take care of marketing/distribution/sales. I'm going to create a catalog and try to pitch the barneys and saks's of the world. I really want to get into the european market too, with the jewelry and the beauty products. We'll each cover our costs for the materials, then split the profits.

So its exciting and will take a long time but its my dream and his dream to do this.

Check out this 3,600 carat flawless rough aquamarine gemstone. I can't believe it!! I'm so in love!!

Its almost an emerald the color is so deep. (aquamarine is the blue version of emerald from the family of beryl. Emerald is much more rare, but aquamarines are still pretty expensive)
